Track teams to compete in Breckenridge

The Albany Lions won the small-school boys division team title Saturday, March 19 at the Possum Kingdom Relays in Graham.

Both the boys and girls teams will be in Breckenridge this Saturday for the Buckaroo Relays, which will replace a March 24 meet at Olney

At Graham, the Lions topped the field of more than 20 schools with 109 points, easily outdistancing Ovilla Christian. Albany won five events, including the 1600 relay.

Cole Chapman and Adam Hill each won two individual events. Chapman placed first in the long jump and triple jump, while Hill won the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

The 1600 relay consisted of Luke Ivy, Jayce Tinkle, Samuel Rosas, and Hill.

Ivy medaled in three individual events, finishing second in the long jump and third in both the triple jump and 200, while Rosas was third in the 800.

Also posting top-three efforts were Luke Marshall and Jayden Lucas in the pole vault.

The Lions scored well in field events, taking at least two places in the discus, long jump, triple jump, and pole vault.

In the small-school girls division, Albany placed fifth with 60 points.

Kiana Roberson finished second in both the shot put and discus with teammate Chey’Anne Weaver third in the discus. Also earning silver medals were Sarah Cotter in the high jump and Briley Tabor in the pole vault.

Ella Webb also scored in two events, placing fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 100 hurdles.

Albany finished fourth in two relays. The foursome of Kam Browning, Emily Schedule, Webb, and Cotter ran 1:58.73 in the 800 relay. Brown, Schedule, Avery Everitt, and Cotter clocked 4:45.45 in the 1600 relay.
