The Albany Lions and Lady Lions track and field teams start their season Thursday, Feb. 23 (today) at the Breckenridge relay meet with several athletes involved in other activities.

Albany returns four state qualifiers from last year, including two medalists – juniors Adam Hill, who was the silver medalist in the boys 110 hurdles, and Kiana Robertson, who took bronze in the girls shot put. Also back are senior boys Tye Edgar, who qualified in the pole vault, and Cole Chapman, who went to state in the triple jump last year after advancing in the high jump as a sophomore.

Boys coach Rod Britting said a limited lineup is available this week, with facing outside competition the main benefit.

The Breckenridge meet will include field events, hurdles, and 1600 run in addition to relays.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, junior high athletes will compete in their first meet at Breckenridge.

Albany will host the Roaring Lions Relays on Thursday, March 23, followed by the Albany Junior High meet on Friday, March 24.
