Golfers will have six resodded greens to putt on this year at the Albany Golf Club’s annual Labor Day tournament, scheduled for Sept. 4-5.

Golf Club board member James Waters said the greens, which were damaged by February’s hard freeze, have been resodded with TifEagle Bermuda and are in good condition.

“We were going to do all nine of them, but we couldn’t get the grass,” he said. “The three we didn’t get to are rebounding, and by the time we have the tournament, they’ll be in good condition.”

Waters said the six resurfaced greens were completely resodded instead of reseeded. He said the other three greens are recovering from the weather damage.

“Right now, they’re at about 80 percent,” he said, “By the time we have the tournament, they’re going to be pretty close to being completely filled in.”

Entry fee for the two-person scramble is $160 per team.

“Both players will have one mulligan each day,” Waters said. “We’ll also have a meal Saturday night.”

Saturday’s round will have tee times of 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The field will be flighted for Sunday based on Saturday’s results.

“I do not have any rental carts available for Saturday mornings tee times,” Waters said. “They’re already reserved. I do have some for Saturday afternoon.”
