Tennis teams finish 3rd

Moran claimed a pair of third place finishes at the District 13-1A tennis tournament March 30-31 at Eastland.

The girls doubles team of Emily Murk and Samantha Hinkle and the boys doubles team of Ellis Hise and Tyler Waddell both will serve as alternates to the Region II-1A tournament Friday-Saturday, April 22-23, at San Angelo.

Murk and Hinkle opened with an 8-6 win over a pair from Eula, then beat a Baird duo 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals. The Moran pair lost 6-2, 6-0 to another Eula team in the finals, then fell 6-4, 6-3 to another Baird team in a playback.

Hise and Waddell, playing together for the first time, had a first-round bye before losing 6-2, 6-0 to a Eula team in the semifinals. The Moran pair then lost a playback 6-3, 6-4 to a team from Baird.

The mixed doubles team of Hannah Rogers and Caleb York lost 9-7 in the first round to a team from Baird.
