Tennis team hosts 5 schools

Albany tennis players hosted five other schools in a practice meet here last Wednesday, March 20 in preparation for  tournament action this week and the district competition April 2-3.

The AHS athletes are entered in the Abilene High School Invitational Tournament this Friday and Saturday, March 29-30 prior to the district tournament at Rose Park in Abilene the following week. 

Players came from Eastland, Moran, Lueders, Breckenridge, and Anson, according to tennis coach Sara Wilson.

Results are as follows:

Mixed Doubles

Cutter Cowart and Susie Cormack lost to Lueders #1 (boys doubles) 6-4, defeated Eastland 6-3, defeated Throckmorton #1 6-5.

Girls Singles

Sarah Beth Cotter defeated Lueders #1 (boy), defeated Lueders #2 (boy).

Girls Doubles

Traci Isbell and Sidney Bartee lost to Breckenridge #1 6-4, defeated Eastland #3 6-5.

Mady Connally and Landree Connally defeated Breckenrdige #1 6-5.

Boys Doubles

Brodey Jones and Michael Hernandez defeated Throckmorton 6-3, 6-2, defeated Eastland #1 6-5, lost to Ivy/Fairchild 6-2.

Luke Ivy and Cooper Fair­child defeated Lueders #1 6-2, defeated Eastland #1 6-3, defeated Jones/Hernandez 6-2.
