The cross country team ran in two meets over the last week, including the season opener in Haskell and a second meet this week in Eula.

The girls competed in Eula on Tuesday, improving both times and placings.

The team will travel to Hamlin on Wednesday, Sept. 23 for their next contest. The junior high runners will also go to Hamlin, but a day earlier on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

All four Albany runners competed in the two-mile varsity girls race, with one runner medaling in the top 10 places.

Briley Tabor finished in seventh place out of the 55 runners with a time of 13:43, receiving a medal.

Also improving times at the meet were: 21. Sidney Russell 14:41; 24. Maci Hatchett 14:50; and 33. Brylee Moore 15:18.

“Everyone improved their times from the first week,” coach Tate Thompson said. “The girls are starting to figure out their limitations and how far they can push themselves.”

The foursome opened the season at a meet on Sept. 2 in Haskell.

Albany results were as follows: 21. Briley Tabor 15:28; 27. Sidney Russell 15:48; 34. Brylee Moore 16:02; and 38. Maci Hatchett 16:12.
