There are still 11 of the 36 spots for team entries in the annual Father’s Day Golf Tournament set for June 20-21 at the Albany Golf Club.

Restrictions on activities at the local golf course have been eased in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, allowing the local golf club to host the traditional 36-team tourney.

Use of the facility was restricted to members only during the shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but now the course is open again for use by non-members at the tournament and weekly scrambles that started last Wednesday.

Only three tee times for the tournament are available for the afternoon flight, but there are still eight spots open for the morning.

“Our afternoon times are filling up, but there are still several slots open in the morning,” tournament director James Waters said. “We still have three golf carts available to rent for the morning flight, but we don’t have any left for the afternoon tee times.”

Tee times for Saturday morning start at 8:30 a.m., with the afternoon action starting at 1:30 p.m.

The teams will be flighted after the first round on Saturday, with the second round set for Sunday, June 21.

The tournament will be conducted as a three-person scramble format, with the entry fee set at $210 per team.

Waters said that there will not be a meal provided this year in order to limit the size of the crowd to follow social distancing policies, especially in the club house.

Anyone interested in entering a team or reserving a golf cart should contact Waters at 325-627-3598.

The club hosted the first scramble of the summer last Wednesday, with weekly events continuing through the summer months.

Anyone interested in the weekly Wednesday scramble should meet at 5:00 p.m. at the club house, with a 5:30 p.m. tee time set.

The entry fee for the scramble is $10 for club members and $15 for non-members.
