Weather conditions resulted in the cancelling of a scrimmage last Friday and the season opener on Tuesday for the Lady Lions softball team.

The team was still scheduled to play in the Eastland tournament this week, although the Thursday portion of the tournament was moved to Friday.

“They changed the Eastland tournament from a three-day event to a two-day tournament on Friday and Saturday,” said coach Jimmy Fuentes. “The number of games we will play was cut from six to four.”

Albany is scheduled play Hawley on Friday at 12:15 p.m., followed by a 2:15 p.m. game against Clyde.

“We requested earlier games since the boys basketball playoff is at 6:00 p.m. Friday,” the coach said.

The Lady Lions will face Jim Ned on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. The second game is set for 4:15 p.m. against Merkel.

The team is on the schedule to host Abilene Cooper’s JV team on Monday, Feb. 22 beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Albany is also entered in the Stephenville tournament on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 25-27.
