Even though it’s still cold outside, it isn’t too soon to start thinking about spring sports, and the Albany Girls Softball Association is ready for action.

Jacey Shack, president of AGSA, said board members met last Wednesday, Jan. 27 and set registration dates and fees.

“Registration forms are available at the schools or on the Albany Softball Facebook page,” said Shack. “All forms are due back to the schools by Friday, Feb. 12.”

Registration fees are $50 for the first player in a family. If there are two players, the cost will be $75. Scholarships are available.

“If you paid a registration fee last year and didn’t get a refund, you will not have to pay this year,” said Shack. “With COVID, we had to put the season on hold, and we know there are players who did not get a refund, so they will not be expected to pay again.”

Players will be divided into teams based on age, with divisions for under-6, under-8, under-10, under-12, and under-14 (as of Jan. 1).

“We may have to combine some of the divisions based on the number of registrations,” Shack said. “We anticipate having under-8, under-10, and under-14 divisions, but that may change.”

Games will be played in Albany, Breckenridge, and possibly additional nearby towns.

“We are hoping to add games against Eastland, Cisco, and Anson,” said Shack.

Completed forms can be turned in to the school, or applicants can call Shack at 325-762-0006.

Shack also announced there will be an open board meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Scout Hut.

“The meeting is open to anyone who has questions or needs more information about the season,” said Shack. “We also need volunteers who are willing to assist the association during the season.”
