Softball league to open tonight with ceremony, game, photos

Albany Softball Association opening ceremonies will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21 (today) at Webb Park.

A total of 92 players will be introduced as well as the 25 volunteers and board members who have volunteered their time this season.

The ASA is sponsoring 12 teams in five age groups this season. Nine teams will play league schedules in 12U, 10U, 6U, and Tee-Ball divisions. Albany will have competitive teams in 12U,10Uand8Udivisions.

Following the opening ceremonies, the 8U Red Thunder will play Abilene at 6:30 p.m.

The Albany News will take team and individual photos of 10 local softball teams starting at 5:00 p.m. There will be a pause at 6:00 p.m. for the brief opening ceremony, then the photos will resume at 6:30 p.m.

Coaches sent the forms to parents earlier this week.
