Seeding game set Friday

The Moran Lady Bulldogs earned themselves an extra match in advance of the playoffs by splitting their two district outings last week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Moran hosted Gustine in a playoff warmup match. Results will be reported next week.

The Lady Bulldogs will play Rising Star in a district seeding match at 6:00 p.m. Friday at Cisco College. Moran (3-15 overall, 1-3 District 14-A) forced the match by sweeping Rising Star 25-14, 25-17, 25-17 on Saturday, Oct. 22 at home.

Moran began last week on Tuesday, Oct. 18 with a home match against Strawn, falling 13-25, 9-25, 6-26.

Friday’s match will determine the second and third playoff seeds in the district. Moran lost in four sets at Rising Star on Oct. 11, but enjoyed a better performance in the rematch.

“We had a lot more motivation and a lot better communication than we had the first time we played them,” coach Jo Hise said. “I switched up our rotation, and we’re running Alli Scott at libero.”

Moran will face either Three Way or Bluff Dale in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Hise said the tentative plan is to play a doubleheader with Rising Star on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Dublin. Game times will be 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The official pairings won’t be determined until after Friday’s seeding match.
