Jonathan Coody finished 11th in the varsity boys race at the Hamlin Cross Country Meet on Sept. 22 to lead Albany’s contingent.

Six runners competed for Albany, including three in the junior high girls race.

The meet was Albany’s first since running Sept. 8 at Eula.

“I believe that the week of not running in a meet helped us to rest and refreshed us,” coach Tate Thompson said. “The kids came out and ran well.”

Albany’s next meet will be Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Anson.

Coody covered the three-mile course in 20 minutes, 3 seconds to finish just out of the top 10. The race had 31 runners.

In the varsity girls race, Briley Tabor clocked a time of 15:12 over two miles to finish 15th in a field of 57 runners. Avery Kleiner finished 40th with 16:59.

In the junior high girls division, which ran 1.5 miles, Ashlyn Miller posted Albany’s best finish, coming in 20th out of 103 runners. She ran a time of 11:33.

Also competing for Albany were Brooke Miller, who finished 72nd in 15 minutes flat, and Tatum Grady, who was 77th in 14:29.
