Runners medal in Eula, Coleman

Albany runners have competed in their first two cross country meets of the season, with a couple of competitors medaling in the junior high boys division.

Isaiah Carrillo took eighth out of 106 runners at Eula with a time of 8:01 on the 1.2-mile course, then crossed the finish line in third place at Coleman with 13:45 on a two-mile run.

Cason Fairchild was eighth at Coleman with a time of 14:12.

Cross country coach Tate Thompson was pleased with the results from both meets, although he mentioned that injuries affected the varsity girls at Coleman.

The next meet is set for Sept. 19 in Haskell for both junior high and high school runners, followed by a Sept. 26 meet in Miles for high school only.

Albany will host a meet on Oct. 3, followed by the district meet Oct. 10 in Hawley.
