Fans of the Albany Lions and Lady Lions athletic programs will have the chance to meet this year’s athletes at the All-Sports Athletic Booster Club Hamburger Supper, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at Bank Park.

In addition to the introduction of football and volleyball teams and cheerleaders, attendees may purchase a hamburger meal for $8.

High school athletes and coaches eat free of charge.

Along with the hamburgers and chips, cheerleaders will make homemade ice cream, which will be available to everyone.

The evening will include a performance by the Albany Cheer Cubs Camp participants.

Fans may also preorder football T-shirts from the spirit shop.

“One thing we wanted to make sure everyone knows is we will not have tables set up,” said Kristie Smith, the event’s coordinator. “We encourage everyone to bring a lawn chair or blanket or something to sit on.”

Booster Club president Ginny Ivy said the club will also have a sign-up sheet for volunteers to work the concession stand at home games.

“We’ll have that ready for people to sign up ahead of time,” Ivy said. “We’ll put it on the Facebook page soon, but if anyone wants to sign up at the Hamburger Supper, they can do that there.”

Membership

Fans of all Albany sports are welcome to join the Booster Club. There is no fee to join, and volunteers are always needed at events and meetings.

Ivy asked the community to follow the Booster Club’s Facebook page to stay up to date on information about Albany sports and Booster Club meetings.

Ivy said the next meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Feed Store. Ivy added that the schedule for future meetings is still in the works.

“In the past, they’ve done it every Monday night, but we don’t feel the need to meet every Monday night,” she said. “We’re meeting a lot right now because of the beginning of the school year and all the seasons. It takes a lot to get everything going. Once the school year starts, we’ll probably meet once a month or every other week.”
