After securing Moran’s first state track gold medal in 50 years last year, Alli Scott is looking to increase the total Saturday, May 13, at the Class 1A state meet.

The Class 1A meet will be held in conjunction with the Class 6A meet at Austin’s Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Scott, headed to state for the third year in a row, is the defending champion in the 100-meter hurdles. She also claimed silver in the 300 hurdles.

“Alli is focused,” Moran coach John Hughes said. “We’re taking the same approach we did last year – it’s just another meet we’re going to.”

Moran will give Scott a send-off at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, May 11 (today).

This year, the senior is the top seed in two events.

In the 100 hurdles. Scott ran 15.02 in the finals at the Region II-1A meet, nearly a second faster than any other qualifier. That’s 0.65 seconds faster than the existing Class 1A meet record and 0.71 faster than her 2022 winning time.

She’s one of three entries in the high jump who cleared 5-2 at regional, joined by I-1A winner Andi Holland of Claude and II-1A runner-up Emalyn Bohensky of Bronte. Scott has cleared 5-4 this season.

In the 300 hurdles, Scott is seeded fifth at 48.16, which was run in windy conditions. Only top seed Maddie Francis of Silverton (46.28) comes in with a better time than the 46.31 Scott ran at state last year.

“That 20-mile-an-hour headwind hurt a lot,” Hughes said. “In the lane assignments, she’s next to (Francis). I have a good feeling Alli can chase that girl down.”

The high jump will start at 11:30 a.m., then Scott will have a break before running the 100 hurdles at 6:05 p.m. and the 300 hurdles at 7:10 p.m.

“After the high jump, we’ll try to get back to the hotel and get a little lunch,” Hughes said, “then head back to the track about 3:00 p.m. for her two races.”
