Moran wins over Chillicothe

Both of the Moran football teams brought home wins from Chillicothe on Friday, Oct. 5. This week the junior high boys will host Three Way on Thursday (tonight) at 5:00 p.m., but as of press time, the varsity did not have a game.

“Three Way does not have enough players to field a team, so they had to forfeit,” said Bulldog coach Harley Ethridge. “We are hoping to pick up a game.”

Varsity Details

The Bulldogs beat the Chillicothe Eagles 54-30.

“The high school team was led by Jonas Cadena,” Ethridge said. “Jonas ran for four touchdowns and was credited with seven tackles. Kobee Lapp also had a good game with five tackles, an interception, several bat downs, and a touchdown.”

Freshman Arren Hawley had not seen a lot of action before Ethridge put him in the Chillicothe game.

“I was really pleased with Arren; he had four bat downs and three tackles,” Ethridge said. “And Curry Pendleton had five tackles and did a good job putting pressure on their quarterback.”

The Bulldogs will travel to Gustine for a 7:30 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 19, and then begin district play at home at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 against Blackwell.

The middle school game was called in the third quarter by the rule of 45.

“We won 46-0,” said Ethridge. “Braxton Ethridge threw for two touchdowns and ran for four more TDs. Danny O’Keefe also scored a touchdown, and we were able to convert some of the PATs.”

The junior high Bulldogs will host Three Way tonight at 5:00 p.m. and Gustine on Thursday, Oct. 18 for another 5:00 p.m. non-district game.
