Moran teams to play in tourney

The Lady Bulldogs played in the Baird tournament last week, hosted Blanket on Tuesday, and are entered in the Rising Star tourney Thursday through Saturday.

The varsity boys are also playing in Rising Star, and the teams will travel together for games in Bryson on Tuesday, Nov. 26 starting at 6:00 p.m.

According to head coach John Hughes, his girls have “raw talent that just needs to be molded together.”

Although the Lady Bulldogs improved over the course of the Baird tournament and had a player named to the All Tournament Team, they ended the weekend with a 0-4 record.

“The scores didn’t look good, but I was proud of the fight and determination that the girls showed,” said Hughes.

Moran lost to May 46-2 on Thursday, Nov. 14, with Dariann Hawley scoring.

Later that afternoon, Hawley beat Moran 49-24. Scorers were Johnnie Hise 8, Reshaley Schafer 6, Hawley 5, and November Meredith 5.

The girls lost to 3A Breckenridge 79-14 on Friday. Hise led the team with 10 points, followed by Meredith with four.  

Moran returned to play Baird on Saturday, Nov.16, falling 48-15. Scoring for the Lady ’Dawgs were Hise 7, Schafer 6, Meredith 1, and Hannah Rogers 1.  

Hise was selected to the All Tournament Team.

Results from Blanket game on Nov. 19 were not available at press time.

Boys Basketball

The Bulldogs scrimmaged Hermleigh Nov. 12. 

Robert Londerholm is coaching the varsity boys.

The Moran junior high boys basketball team hosted Gordon on Monday, Nov. 18 in Bulldog Gym. 

Gordon came out on top 45-5. 

Scoring for Moran were Ellis Hise 3, Toby Eason 1, and A.J. Hebel 1.

The boys are off next week for Thanksgiving.
