Moran teams play in tournaments

Last week the Moran Bulldogs were third at the Woodson tournament on Saturday, Dec. 1, beating the Albany JV 40-24, losing to Newcastle 36-53, and rebounding to defeat Anson JV 66-24.

On Thursday and Saturday, Dec. 6-8 the ’Dawgs played in the Rochelle Tournament.

They squeaked by the host team 42-40. Other results were not available at press time.

The varsity boys basketball squad played a game in Highland on Tuesday, Dec. 4, and they will return for a rematch on Friday, Dec. 21 at 1:00 p.m., before finishing out 2018 in a New Year’s Eve game with Lueders-Avoca at 1:00 p.m. in Moran.

The Lady Bulldogs also played in a tournament at Rochelle on Dec. 6-8. Results were not available at press time.

The girls varsity team will host Throckmorton this Friday, Dec. 14 to a 6:00 p.m. tip-off before breaking for the holidays. They hit the court again in Munday for a tournament on Dec. 27-29.

Both junior high teams played in Eula this Monday, Dec. 10. 

The girls results were not known at press time.

The junior high Bulldogs were defeated by the Pirates 15-44.

Scoring for Moran were Braxton Ethridge 13, Caleb York 2.

“Eula is a very good team and our boys worked hard,” said coach Matthew Hise. “We keep improving each week.”

The junior high teams play two games in Strawn on Monday, Dec. 17, starting at 6:00 p.m. with the girls match.

Junior high play will begin again on Thursday, Jan. 10, after the winter break with home games against Gordon.
