Moran teams to play next on Dec. 29

The Moran Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs basketball teams played their final games before the holiday break Monday, Dec. 18, with a doubleheader at Panther Creek.

Moran will play twice during the break, visiting Garner on Friday, Dec. 29, andhostingOlneyonTuesday, Jan. 2 before the Lady Bulldogs open District 131A on Friday, Jan. 5.

Game times at Garner will be 11:00 a.m. for the girls and 12:30 p.m. for the boys. Game time against Olney will be 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

On Jan. 5, the Moran girls host Cross Plains.

Lady Bulldogs

The Lady Bulldogs dropped three games over the last week.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, Moran lost at home to Rotan 63-11. LeAnna Sikes scored six points for Moran with Kielar Carr scoring five.

On Friday, Dec. 15, Moran lost 39-19 at Brookesmith. MaeKayla Kersey and Carr each scored eight points. Sikes scored two and Rayni Vinson had one.

On Monday, Moran lost 45-31 at Panther Creek. Carr scored 16 points with Kacenda Thompkins adding six points, Sikes five, and Kersey four.

Bulldogs

The Bulldogs dropped a pair of heartbreakers in losing three games.

Moran fell 38-37 to Rotan at home just four days after suffering a 25-point loss to theYellowhammers at the Rotan tournament.

The rematch stayed close with the lead changing hands each quarter. Garrett Hamilton scored 15 points to lead Moran, with Caleb York adding eight. Chase Murk, Zech Henderson, and Ellis Hise scored four points apiece and Cotten Campbell scored two.

That was followed by a 56-26 loss at Brookesmith. The Bulldogs led 13-12 after one quarter, then went cold. Hamilton had 14 points with Hise adding seven, Campbell four, and Henderson one.

At Panther Creek, Moran fell 41-38 in overtime. The Bulldogs outscored Panther Creek 10-9 in the fourth quarter to extend the game, but were outscored 5-2 in the extra period.

Hise scored 19 points, nine in the fourth quarter, to lead Moran. York added seven points, with Hamilton scoring six, Landon Moreno four, and Danny O’Keefe two.
