Moran players earn all-district honors

Four members of the Moran Lady Bulldogs were recognized for their achievement with inclusion on the All-District 13-1A girls basketball team.

Senior Johnnie Hise was named to the first team with junior Hannah Noble earning a spot on the second team. Senior Hannah Rogers and junior Alli Scott received honorable mention.

“Congratulations to these ladies on this accomplishment,” Lady Bulldogs coach John Hughes said.

Moran went 8-20 overall, 3-7 in district, tying for fourth place. The Lady Bulldogs were denied a playoff berth with a 39-38 overtime loss to Baird in a tiebreaker game on Feb. 10.

Hise led Moran in scoring and rebounding. She averaged 11.5 points and 10.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.

Noble averaged 10.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals. She led the team in assists.

Rogers averaged 2.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 1.4 steals.

Scott averaged 2.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and a team-high 2.6 steals.

Track and Field

Moran’s start in spring sports was delayed a week by last week’s winter storm.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to open their season Thursday, Feb. 24 at Rising Star. The teams will now open their season Friday, March 4 at Trent.

Moran will compete in its first junior high meet Monday, March 7, at Trent.
