Moran to host Baird Friday

The Moran Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs basketball teams are in full swing in District 13-1A play.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped district games against Rising Star, 28-17 on Tuesday, Jan. 10 and May, 52-9 on Friday, Jan. 13. The boys opened district against May with a 66-7 loss.

Moran opened a three-game homestand against Eula on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Results will be reported next week. The teams will also be at home Friday, Jan. 20 against Baird,and Tuesday, Jan. 24 against Cross Plains.

Girls Results

Against Rising Star, the Lady Bulldogs were tied 5-5 after one quarter before the Lady Wildcats took a 15-7 halftime lead.

Emily Murk led Moran with 10 points. Alyssa Allred scored five, and Alli Scott two. Allred grabbed eight rebounds, with Murk and Samantha Hinkle getting five each. Scott made four steals, Hinkle had two assists, and Murk and Allred each blocked four shots.

Details against May were not available.

Boys Basketball

The Bulldogs took the court for just the second time in 2023 in their district opener. Moran last played Jan. 3 at Olney.

Against May, Ellis Hise scored four points with Cotten Campbell getting two and Zech Henderson one.

Junior High

Moran’s junior high teams both lost Monday, Jan. 16 at Rising Star.

The A team lost 40-22, while the B team fell 38-0.

In the A game, Garrett Hamilton scored 18 points, and Maekayla Kersey scored four.

Moran will host May on Monday, Jan. 23, and compete in the Blanket tournament on Saturday, Jan. 28.
