Moran volleyball teams lost district matches last week to girls from Strawn and Newcastle.

Moran traveled to Strawn on Tuesday, Sept. 17 for three matches.

The junior high Lady Bulldogs lost to Strawn 25-15, 18-25, 8-15.

“They played well for their first game,” said girls head coach Jo Hise. “I am very proud of how they worked together.”

Moran put together a second team to take on the Lady Hounds’ JV squad.

Strawn won the match 25-19, 25-6.

“Baylee Orsak led our serving in both of those sets,” said Hise.

In the final matchup of the night, the Lady Bulldogs lost to Strawn 23-25, 17-25, 17-25.

The varsity team traveled to Newcastle on Saturday, Sept. 28 to take on the Ladycats.

Moran lost in four sets, 19-25, 25-23, 8-25, 8-25.

“We were battling injuries and illnesses, so we weren’t 100 percent,” said Hise. “But the team members who were there gave 110 percent to make up for those that were unable to play.”

The coach commended Reshaley Schafer for leading the scoring.

“I’m very proud of how hard all three groups of young ladies are playing and fighting through difficult times,” said Hise.

Moran hosted both Hawley junior high and high school teams on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Results were not available at press time.

This Saturday, Moran will head north on Highway 6 to take on 2A Albany at 10:00 a.m.
