Moran to face Rising Star

The Moran varsity girls and boys basketball teams are both in the middle of district competition with both teams hosting Cross Plains on Friday, Jan. 29.

Both teams are scheduled to travel to Rising Star on Friday, Feb. 5. 

Lady Bulldog 

Basketball

The varsity girls basketball team lost the contest with Cross Plains 62-20. 

Johnnie Hise was the leading scorer with eight points, followed by Emily Murk with six points, Hannah Noble with five points and Alli Scott with one point. 

The Friday night loss puts the Lady Bulldogs at 1-13 for the season and 0-8 in district. 

The Lady Bulldogs hosted Eula on Tuesday, Feb. 2, but results were not available at press time.

Varsity Boys

Basketball

The varsity Bulldogs also came up short against Cross Plains, losing 63-19.

Arren Hawley was the leading scorer with 13 points, followed by Corey Miller with four points and Connor Hail with two points. 

Results from the boys makeup game against May on Friday, Jan. 22 also added to the loss column, with the Bulldogs losing 59-23. 

Miller led the scoring with nine points, followed by Hawley with seven points, Hail with four points, and Keagan Kilcrease with three points. 

The Bulldogs were scheduled to host Eula on Tuesday, Feb. 2, but results were not available at press time. 

Junior High 

Basketball

The junior high girls and boys teams were scheduled to host Eula on Monday, Feb. 1.

The junior high girls game was cancelled.

The junior high boys game was played with Moran losing to Eula 50-7.

Cotten Campbell led the scoring with four points and Ellis Hise had three points. 

The Moran junior high boys record is 1-7 for the season. 

Both teams will finish their seasons on Monday, Feb. 8 when they travel to Rising Star.

Girls will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:00 p.m.
