Moran basketball teams report scores

The Moran High School varsity girls basketball team hosted Rising Star on Tuesday, Jan. 19 in district play.

The Lady Bulldogs lost the contest 19-12.

Hannah Rogers was the leading scorer with six points, followed by Emily Murk and Dariann Hawley with three points each. 

The Lady Bulldogs were home against May on Friday, Jan. 22. The team lost the contest 73-15.

Hannah Noble led the scoring with eight points followed by Dariann Hawley with four points, and Alli Scott with three points. 

The Friday night loss puts the Lady Bulldogs at 1-11 for the season and 0-6 in district. 

The Lady Bulldogs scheduled to travel to Baird on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Varsity Boys

Basketball

The varsity boys basketball team hosted Rising Star on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The Bulldogs came up short, losing 51-42 and putting their district record at 0-5. 

Arren Hawley had a big night leading the scoring with 35 points, followed by Keagan Kilcrease with three points, and Caleb York and Connor Hail with two points each. 

The Bulldogs were scheduled to play the May Dragons on Friday, Jan. 22, but were idle instead. 

Junior High 

Basketball

The junior high girls and boys teams traveled to Baird on Monday, Jan. 18.

The junior high girls edged out the competition 17-16, with Kacenda Thompkins scoring seven points, Cassandra Mendez scoring six points, and Leanna Sikes scoring four points. 

The Moran junior high girls record stands at 1-1.

The junior high boys also came up with a win defeating Baird 24-19.

Ellis Hise led the scoring with 18 points, and Cotten Campbell, Riley Noble, and Landen Moreno each added two points. 

The Moran junior high boys record is 1-6 for the season. 

Both teams hosted Cross Plains on Monday, Jan. 25.

The junior high girls lost the contest 32-15, with Thompkins scoring six points, and Ashlyn Crawford scoring four points. 

Aydan Moreno and Sikes each scored two points and Mendez scored one point.

The junior high girls record is now 1-2.

The junior high boys played hard but came up a little short against Cross Plains, losing the game 31-25.

Ellis Hise led the scoring with 17 points followed by Riley Nobel and Cotton Campbell with four points each. 

The junior high boys record is now 1-6.

Both teams will return to the court on Monday, Feb. 1 when Moran hosts Eula at home. 

Girls will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:00 p.m.
