Moran Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs basketball teams are already encountering schedule changes before the season even tips off.

Moran athletic director John Hughes said junior high games scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10 (tonight) at Cross Plains have been cancelled because of the Buffaloes’ playoff football game at Big Spring.

Also, the Lady Bulldogs varsity game scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 12 at Loraine has been cancelled after Loraine cancelled its season.

“I’m trying to find a game for the girls,” Hughes said on Tuesday.

Girls Varsity

The Lady Bulldogs’ next scheduled game is Tuesday, Nov. 15 against Blanket at home.

Hughes will have five seniors on the girls roster, including returning starters Alli Scott and Emily Murk. They are joined by seniors Alyssa Allred, Samantha Hinkle, and Alayna Baker.

“We’re going to be a lot different than we were last year, but I think we’ll be pretty good because I’ve got two starters coming back. Allred and Hinkle played in spots last year, so those four have experience. I’m hoping we can build off what those girls did during volleyball and continue to go from there.”

Filling out the roster are junior Lavada Huskey and freshmen LeAnna Sikes and Kacenda Thompkins.

Boys Varsity

The Moran boys tip off their season Friday, Nov. 18 against Mullin at home in the nightcap of a doubleheader with the girls team.

Boys coach Matthew Hise will have about 10 players this season, all of whom participated in a fall sport.

Junior High

Moran will not have a junior high girls team but will double up on the boys side.

“We’re going to have two boys teams,” Hughes said. “We’ll have a combined seventh and eighth grade team and a straight sixth grade team.”

The junior high teams will now open their season Monday, Nov. 14 against Rising Star at home.
