Morales commits to McMurry

Albany senior and standout athlete Jaleigh Morales has committed to play basketball next year at McMurry University in Abilene.

The university announced Morales’ decision last week since the usual signing day ceremonies were canceled due to both the university and the high school being closed because of statewide coronavirus precautions.

Morales racked up over 1,300 points during her four years in high school, including over 1,100 in her three seasons as a Lady Lion. She was presented a plaque marking the total at the final home game of the season.

Morales, 17, will major in biomedical science at McMurry. She has been accepted in the honors program at the university and is currently ranked second in her class at Albany High School.

She is the daughter of Edward and Melissa Morales of Albany.
