MISD track teams start at Trent

Three members of the Moran Bulldogs boys basketball team earned spots on the All-District 13-1A team, which was selected by vote of district coaches.
Senior Arren Hawley was named to the second team, while sophomore Caleb York and freshman Ellis Hise received honorable mention.
Moran finished the season 2-16 overall and 1-9 in district.
Hawley, the Bulldogs’ lone senior, led the team in scoring.
Track Results
The Moran track and field teams opened their season Thursday, March 4 at Trent. The Lady Buulldogs finished fifth in the team standings of the girls division with 66 points, while the Bulldogs placed eighth in the boys division with eight points.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Alli Scott accounted for 34 points, winning the 100 hurdles (17.2 seconds) and high jump (5 feet) while finishing second in the long jump (14-8½) and third in the 100 (13.6).
Hannah Noble also won two events, the 100 (13.3) and 200 (28.5). Emily Murk was third in the 400 (1:16.5) and Harmony Slaughter was third in the 1600 (8:33).
Also competing for the girls was Samantha Hinkle in the shot put and discus.
For the boys, Arren Hawley finished fourth in the 100 at 12.5. Hawley also anchored the 400 relay of Tyler Waddell, Connor Hail, and Caleb York to a fifth place finish in 48.0.
Also competing for the boys was Riley Noble in the shot put and discus.
Moran is competing at Cisco on Thursday, March 10 (today). The teams will compete Saturday, March 19 at Graham.
Junior High Track
Moran’s junior high track teams competed in their first meet on Monday, March 7, at Trent.
Each athlete was able to receive a ribbon after each one of their races if they placed in the top six.
The girls 400 relay team of Cassandra Mendez, Jayla Bussell, Aslyn Crawford, and Jaelyn Cottle finished second.
Mendez also placed first in the 200 and second in the 100 as well as competing in the long jump.
Bussell also placed third in the 800 and fourth in the 400. Crawford finished first in the 100. Cottle was third in the 100 and fifth in the 200.
Leanna Sikes placed first in the shot put and third in the discus, while Kacenda Thompkins was fifth in the discus.
Also competing for the girls was Sarah Mendoza.
Competing for the boys was Chase Murk in the 800, 400, and 200 and long jump.
The next junior high meet is Monday, March 21, at Gordon.
