Two tennis doubles teams from Moran made their first outings of the spring at tournaments in Abilene and Zephyr.

“We started off well,” coach Jo Hise said. “I think we will have a strong season. Everybody’s showing improvement the more court time we get.”

OnThursday,March21, the boys doubles team of Caleb York and Ellis Hise split two matches at Abilene before the rest of the tournament was rained out. The duo dropped their first match 1-8 to Abilene Wylie and beat Early 8-6. They were on the court preparing to play Clyde when play was halted.

On Monday, March 25, boys doubles and mixed doubles played at Zephyr.

York-Hise finished fourth, beating Cisco 8-1 and Gustine 8-6 to reach the semifinals. The pair lost5-8toZephyrand4-8to Gustine in the third-place match.

In mixed doubles, Bailey Schafer and Chase Murk had a bye, then lost 1-8 to Santa Ana in the semifinals and 2-8 to Gustine for third place.
