MHS teams to play in Baird Friday

The Moran Lady Bulldogs basketball team took on Rising Star and May last week in District 131A play, with the Bulldogs opening their district schedule against May.

Moran played a district doubleheader on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Eula. Results were not available at press time and will be reported next week.

On Friday, Jan. 19 at Baird, the girls game will tip off at 6:00 p.m.

Girls Basketball

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, the Lady Bulldogs dropped a 45-18 decision while on the road at Rising Star.

Moran trailed 14-4 at the end of the first quarter.

Kieler Carr scored 13 points, MaeKayla Kersey added four, and LeAnn Sikes one.

On Friday, Jan. 12, Moran lost to May 65-9, falling behind 19-3 in the first quarter.

Kersey scored four points, Carr three, and Sikes two.

Boys Basketball

The Bulldogs returned from 10 days off for their district opener, falling 7627 to May.

The Moran boys last played on Jan. 2.

May jumped out to an 18-5 lead in the first quarter and held a 39-14 halftime advantage.

Ellis Hise led Moran with 10 points. Zech Henderson added seven points, followed by Garrett Hamilton and Caleb York with four each and Cotten Campbell with two.

Junior High

Moran’s junior high games scheduled for Monday, Jan. 15 against Rising Starwerecancelledbecause of a broken water main and will not be made up.

The next outing for the junior high teams will be Monday, Jan. 22 at May.
