Moran schools put the wraps on their athletic year this past weekend when a local hurdler competed at the state meet.

Moran sophomore athlete Alli Scott finished her track year landing in seventh place in the 100 meter hurdles at the University Interscholastic League Track and Field State Championships held last Saturday in Austin.

Moran athletic director and track coach John Hughes said he was very proud of Scott’s achievements during the season.

“She worked really hard all year to reach this point,” said Hughes. “We both gained some valuable experience at the meet and look forward to her possibly returning next year.”

All-State Track

Senior athlete Dariann Hawley was named to the Honorable Mention Texas High School Coaches Association All-State Team for her track performance this year.

The THSCA recognizes high school athletes who excel in GPA, class rank, and ACT/SAT score.

Hawley also was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State Track team.

Academic All-Star athletes must be graduating seniors, have an overall GPA of 94 or above for grades nine through 11, be a varsity participant, and be of good moral character.
