The Moran Lady Bulldogs volleyball team picked up its second victory of the season last week, taking losses in two other matches.

Moran was back on the road Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Roscoe. Results will be reported next week. Moran will play Friday-Saturday, Aug. 25-27 at the Abilene TLC tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the week Tuesday, Aug. 16 with a five-set loss to Gustine in their home opener, then split two matches Saturday, Aug. 20 at Knox City.

Against Gustine, Moran lost 25-12, 25-16, 22-25, 15-25, 8-15.

“We built a lot of endurance during that game,” coach Jo Hise said. Everybody’s learning every spot on the floor because they’ve got to play them all.”

At Knox City, Moran lost to the Lady Greyhounds JV White 25-17, 15-25, 11-15.

“The girls didn’t play to the best of their ability in that one,” Hise said.

The Lady Bulldogs bounced back to defeat the Knox City freshmen 25-22, 25-23 and improve to 2-5 on the season.

With a roster split between seniors and freshmen, Hise said the Lady Bulldogs need as much floor time as possible to mesh properly.

“I’m seeing a lot of leadership out of my seniors helping my younger ones, talking them through, helping them build up mental strength,” she said.
