MHS football players honored after season

Even though the Moran Bulldogs did not advance into post-season play this year, over half of the varsity team members were recognized by the district coaches for their performance on the gridiron by being named to the all-district football team.

Moran plays six-man football in District 6-A division II.

Coaches nominate players for the all-district honors but can not vote for their own players.

Senior Kobee Lapp was named to the first team as a receiver/tight end. Also placed on the first team was junior Jonas Cadena in the linebacker position.

Freshman Braden Crow earned his way to first team all-district honors in two positions, both as a spreadback and as punter.

Senior Kobee Lapp was also placed on the second team as a safety.

Senior Curry Pendelton was named center on the second team all-district.

Also awarded second team honors were junior Jonas Cadena as running back, junior Harley Schafer on defense and on offense special teams, freshman Lyric Huskey as a spreadback and also as a defensive rusher, and freshman Arren Hawley as cornerback.

Senior Jesse Hawley was given honorable mention as an offensive lineman.

“We finished third in our district and 5-5 on the season,” coach Harley Ethridge said. “We are disappointed as a team that we didn’t reach our goal of making the playoffs, but our kids progressed as the season continued.”

Ethridge said that the progress and experience gained this year should help the team accomplish even more next year.

“I am optimistic,” he said. “We will have players returning that were able to get a lot of experience. Our future is bright.”
