Members of Albany’s state-tournament qualifying volleyball team received another round of awards in the last week.

Three local players were selected for the first-team All-Big Country Team named by Big Country Preps.

Senior Alli Hill and juniors Sarah Cotter and Clara Holson each received first team recognition, while senior Torie Fuentes received Honorable Mention Defensive Specialist.

Albany coach M.J. Reneau was tapped as coach of the year.

Reneau, in her second year as head volleyball coach, led the Lady Lions to a 22-5 record season, ending with Albany’s second ever state semi-final game appearance. Albany lost to Crawford in three sets.

Reneau was also a senior on the 2009 team that advanced to the state tournament for the first time in program history.

The Texas Girls Coach Association recently released the Academic All-State team, which included Albany seniors Alli Hill, Blanton Belcher, and Hannah Trail.
