Three of the five junior high teams ended the season on Monday with wins over Stamford.

The Red team picked up a 40-10 win.

“The girls finished out the season with a solid win,” coach Jamie Wilson said. “They did a great job taking the ball to the basket and finishing their lay-ups. I’m really proud with how much this group improved over the season.”

Caroline Holson was named offensive standout.

Albany 12 8 14 6 - 40

Stamford 1 3 1 5 - 10

The eighth grade boys lost a close game at home over Stamford, 27-23.

“We did a good job of moving the ball around on offense and executing,” coach Jimmy Fuentes said. “We just didn’t take advantage of some of the scoring opportunities. Stamford had us down by 10 points and our boys battled back and almost pulled off the win.”

Scoring were Jace Little 2, Dalton Richards 2, Hagen Miller 3, Branson Beal 13, and Landon Balliew 3.

The seventh grade boys finished the season with a 9-0 record after a 34-32 overtime win over Stamford.

“This was a good win for this group of guys,” coach David Fairchild said. “Offensively, I thought our guards did a good job of breaking the press, which included Cade and Calhan Fairchild, Woods Peterson, and Mason McCloy.”

Scoring were Huffman Heatly 13, Cade Fairchild 11, Mason McCLoy 2, Brody Oliver 3, Calhan Fairchild 3, and Lane Helle 2.

The coach commended Lane Helle, Huffman Heatly, Calhan Fairchild, and Brody Oliver on defense.

“I am very proud of this group,” the coach said. “They worked hard and found ways to succeed.”

The B team players dropped their game 15-14.

Brody Brown was the leading scorer with six points, followed by Ty Richards 4, John Birkla 2, and Mason Becher 2.

“Defensively, Breylon Billington, Ryan Turner, John Birkla, and David Mugoya had some big rebounds,” Fairchild said. “Overall, it was a good season for these young men.”
