Local golf tourneys set

Albany Golf Club has set its tournament schedule for the 2024 season with nine events scheduled from May to October.

First up is Christmas for Kids, a new threeperson scramble scheduled for May 18-19.

The event aims to raise funds to assist children in need during the holiday season.

“Ourgoalistoserve25 kids and raise $5,000,” organizer Reggy Spencer said. “We will work with the elementary school in finding those that are in need and get a wish list from them and then go shopping to find some of the things they have picked out.”

Spencer said gifts will be delivered to recipients around Christmas Eve.

“We did this in Colorado City and served about a 100 kids,” Spencer said. “The golf club hopes to reach everyone that needs it here.”

Spencer said the event is intended to help serve the community.

“I’ve always believed in helping others,” he said. “My parents did it and still do. I want to try to make a little bit of a positive impact on our community, and hopefully it grows.”

Kiwanis – Oct. 11, fourperson scramble, $50 per person, 18-22 teams.
