Little League signup to run until Feb. 28

Albany Little League has extended player registration through the end of February for its 2024 season.

Albany Little League organizer Paul Hamilton said 73 players had registered as of Tuesday, Feb. 13. Last year, the youth baseballprogramhadmore than 140 participants.

Hamilton said the baseball program is conducting online registration again this year, with information on how to register available through Nancy Smith Elementary School.

“If a child played last year, they already have an account,”Hamiltonsaid.“If they’re new this year, they will need to register. We won’t have any forms, but wewillhaveaninformation sheet.”

Albany Little League offers competition in Tee-Ball, Coach Pitch, Little LeagueMajorsandMinors, Intermediate, and Junior leagues.

The season will start following Albany ISD’s spring break, which is March 11-15. Hamilton said an exact start date will be determined after registration is finished.

The season will last into May with all-star competition beginning in June.

“We’re hoping to have four teams each in T-ball, Coach Pitch, Majors, and Minors,” Hamilton said. “Last year, we had four in Majors and Minors.”

Registrationfeesremain unchanged, starting at $50 for T-ball and Coach Pitch, $75 for Majors and Minors, and $85 for Intermediate and Juniors. Scholarships are available.
