Albany Little League games started this week despite a lengthy delay from the original start date due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Both major and minor teams will play three days per week during a shortened season scheduled to end by June 30.

T-ball and coach pitch leagues also started this week, continuing their schedule on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The last set of games for those two leagues is currently set for Wednesday, June 24.

There are also two older teams including intermediates and junior league which will play during the month of June and on into July as well.

Games for the local minor league will start at 5:00 p.m., followed by the major team players at about 6:15 p.m.

Younger Leagues

Coach pitch games will be played at the Little League field at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, and again at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays.

The T-ball teams will follow the same schedule but will play on the adjacent intermediate field.

League president Paul Hamilton said that he was glad that the league was able to host games at all this spring, noting that basically the same number of games has been condensed into four weeks of play.

The championship games for the Little League divisions will be played on June 29-30.

All post-season games such as the county tournament and all-star tournament have been cancelled for the season.
