The varsity Lion basketball team opened their season in Munday this week, dropping their first outing 52-44 on the road.

The varsity will be open this weekend after being bumped from the Winters Tournament, but the JV and JV II Lions will host a local tournament.

A total of 14 teams are scheduled to play on Thursday and Saturday in the two Albany gyms.

The JV boys will play Cisco at 1:40 p.m. on Thursday in the main gym, and then will face Sweetwater at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday in the auxiliary gym.

The JV II team will take the court against Cross Plains at 5:10 p.m. on Thursday and Hico at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both of those games are in the old gym.

All three of the Lion teams will host Early on Tuesday, Dec. 10 starting at 4:00 p.m.

Details about the games in Munday were not available at press time but will be reported next week.

The varsity Lions are launching their season earlier than they have the last few years due to results of the football playoffs.

The varsity boys are also on the schedule to host a varsity only tournament on Jan. 3 and 4.
