After dominating the competition in District 6-2ADivisionII,theAlbany Lions dominated the alldistrict selections with every varsity player earning atleastHonorableMention.

The team was selected by vote of district coaches andreleasedafterallteams were finished in the playoffs. For the second year in a row, Albany delayed the release as long as possible by winning the state championship.

In winning its fourth consecutive district championship and 15th in the last 16 years, Albany outscored opponents 271-7. District runnerup Roscoe was the only opponent to score against the Lions.

Albany now has 40 district championships in its history, 20 coming under longtime head coach Denney Faith.

The Lions claimed 28 spotsontheteam,including four superlative awards. Adam Hill was named District MVP with Zane Waggoner selected Offensive Lineman of the Year among his four all-district spots. Sophomore Calhan Fairchild was voted Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and Albany coaches were named Staff of the Year.

Waggoner collected three spots on the first team as a defensive tackle, kicker, and punter. Also earningfirst-teamhonorsof both sides of the ball were Jaxson Hoel at running back and inside linebacker, Tyler Chapman at H-back anddefensiveutilityplayer, andCasonFairchildatwide receiver and cornerback.

Otherfirst-teamersfrom Albany were offensive linemen Lanxton Viertel, Cole Read, and Landon Balliew, Branson Beal at offensive utility, Houston Heatly at defensive end, and Wyatt Windham at safety.

Named to the second team were quarterback Chip Chambers, offensive lineman Tristan Howe, defensive tackle Parker Shelton, Beal at outside linebacker, corner back Luke Marshall, and Ethan Green at defensive utility player.

Receiving Honorable Mention were Woods Peterson, Laithe Leech, and Huffman Heatly.
