Members of the Lion varsity basketball team were honored with various selections to the All-District Team for District 8-2A .

Junior Cade Neve received the Lions’ lone superlative award as 6th Man of the Year for the district, while two seniors were tapped for the first team and a senior and a freshman were named to the second team.

“I thought we had great representation on the All-District team once again,” head boys basketball coach and athletic director Ryder Peacock said. “Cade came along and gave us a big boost off the bench and was honored accordingly.”

Ben West and B.J. Morris both received first team placings.

“Ben and B.J. were our leaders on both ends of the floor this year,” the coach said. “They became big time defenders for us and played a major role in our offensive scheme as well.”

Senior Blaine Kayga and freshman Cole Chapman were picked for the second team by the district’s coaches.

“Both these guys were big factors for us this season, especially rebounding and defending opposing teams’ posts,” Peacock said.

Senior Seth Hale and junior Ryder Wilkins received honorable mentions from the district.

“Seth and Ryder both played key roles in what we were able to do as a team,” the coach said. “Seth became a threat for us from the outside, while Ryder did a great job coming in and playing for us on the inside.”

The Lions advanced into the playoffs in fourth place in the district with an overall 9-16 record, including going 3-7 in district.

Albany fell in the bi-district round of the playoffs, losing to Christoval in overtime, 43-39.
