The Albany Lady Lions dropped a pair of games last week in their first  road outings of the basketball season, and they had two more games this week before the Thanksgiving break.

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, Albany lost 61-12 at Gordon. That was followed Friday, Nov. 18, by a 35-29 loss at Roby in a game that was a late addition to the schedule.

On Monday, Nov. 21, the Lady Lions hosted Seymour, followed Tuesday, Nov. 22 by a road game at Gorman. Because of early deadlines, those results will be reported next week.

Albany returns from the Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, Nov. 29 with a visit to Archer City. The Lady Lions will compete in the Gorman tournament Thursday, Dec. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 3.

At Gordon. Albany fell behind 13-2 in the first quarter and trailed 29-4 at halftime. Kiana Roberson, who went 6 of 7 at the line, led the Lady Lions with eight points. Briley Tabor and Braylyn Abbate each scored two points.

“Gordon is a really good team,” Lady Lions coach Tate Thompson said. “We struggled with taking care of the ball and scoring, but I thought we played really well defensively. We just need to get more game experience so the girls are confident with the ball.”

At Roby, the Lady Lions were unable to overcome an early 10-point deficit. After trailing 15-5 at the end of the first quarter, Albany outscored Roby in each of the next two quarters to cut the margin to six.

“We had a very slow start, and that affected us the rest of the game,” Thompson said. “It was a good competitive game, and we got to see lots of different situations.”

Roberson scored a game-high 17 points to lead Albany, going 9 of 12 at the line. Tabor added five points.
