The Lady Lions split their final two district warm-up games last week in preparation to opening the District 8-2A race in Cross Plains on Friday.

The Lady Lions are set to travel to Cross Plains tomorrow for both JV and varsity games starting at 5:00 p.m.

Girls head coach Tate Thompson said that this is the first JV game to be scheduled in over a month due to injuries.

The varsity game will follow the JV district opener at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Lions will return home on Tuesday, Jan. 14 to host Stamford starting at 5:00 p.m. for the JV and 6:30 p.m. for the varsity.

The boys basketball teams are still playing their pre-district schedule against other teams on Friday and Tuesday.

The first full set of games for the boys and girls teams will be held Friday, Jan. 17 in Roscoe.

Game Details

The varsity girls traveled to Goldthwaite on Dec. 30 for their first bout after the Christmas holiday. Albany lost to the Lady Eagles, 45-38.

“Goldthwaite has a very good team that is state ranked,” Thompson said. “We played well for the most part, but Goldthwaite just hit a few more shots down the stretch.”

The coach said the game helped the Lady Lions prepare for the upcoming district race.

Jaleigh Morales was the offensive standout, with Brylee Moore named for defense.

Albany 11 9 14 4 - 38

G’waite 11 18 8 13 - 45

The Lady Lions went to DeLeon last Friday, bringing home a 51-41 win to improve to 15-6 for the season.

“This was our final test before district,” the coach said. “I like where we are as a team going into the district race. The girls are ready to get district started.”
