Lady Lions to play in Clyde

The Albany Lady Lions open their softball season Thursday, Feb. 15 (today) at the Clyde tournament.

The Lady Lions will spend three days – Thursday- Saturday, Feb. 15-17 – at the tournament before visiting De Leon on Saturday, Feb. 24.

“We’ve got a plan going in for this first tournament, but nothing’s solid,” Lady Lions coach Jimmy Fuentes said. “We’re going to be moving kids around until we find spots they can play. That’s what the tournament’s going to serve as – we’re going to throw them into the fire.”

Fuentes enters the season with 10 players on the roster, five of them newcomers. Returning players are seniors Robin Lucas and Braylyn Abbate, juniors Gabby Lopez and Carisa Barrera, and sophomore Jayden Kelly.

After the game at De Leon and the home opener against Sweetwater JV on Tuesday, Feb. 27, Albany will compete in the Eula tournament Thursday-Saturday,Feb.29-March2.
