Lady Lions open district with loss to Cisco

The Albany Lady Lions played just one game last week due to a cancellation, costingtheteamachanceat more court time before the start of district play.

Albany opened the District 10-2A schedule Tuesday, Dec. 12, losing 63-17 at Cisco. Details will be reported next week.

On Friday, Dec. 8, the LadyLionsdroppeda53-37 decision at Clyde in their final outing before district.

“The girls hustled,” coachBradStautzenberger said. “The shots weren’t falling,andwehadacouple of injuries. The game got away from us at the end.”

Albanytrailed12-6after the opening quarter, but closed to within a point at halftime.Clydethenpulled away in the second half.

Kiana Roberson had 20 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Ashlyn Holson added nine points and two assistswithCarolineChapman chipping in seven points,twoassists,andfour rebounds.

A home game against Throckmorton on Tuesday, Dec. 5 was cancelled because of illness within the Lady Greyhounds team.

Junior Varsity

The Lady Lions JV got in its full slate of games, defeating Throckmorton 51-32anddroppingaheartbreaker at Clyde, 28-26.

Against Throckmorton, Albany held a six-point halftimeleadbeforepulling away in the third quarter.

Zayne Lefevre led Albany with 21 points while Charlee Hefner scored 12.

AtClyde,theLadyLions trailed by four at halftime, butpulledwithinoneinthe third quarter only to have Clyde hold on. Lefevre led Albany with nine points. Hefner and Hattie Braly each added six points.
