The District 6-A volleyball all-district team members have been chosen, and six Lady Bulldogs were honored, including Johnnie Hise who won one of the superlative awards.

Freshman Johnnie Hise was named the district’s Newcomer of the Year.

Hise and her teammates took Moran to the playoffs for the first time in 24 years, placing third in district before falling to Northside in the bi-district match.

Coaches nominate players for all-district honors, but are not allowed to vote for their own team members.

Senior Summer Pederson was placed on the first team all-district.

Junior November Meredith was selected to the second team.

Honorable mention was given to Moran senior Kaylin New, sophomore Dariann Hawley, and freshman Hannah Rogers.

Eight members of the Lady Bulldog squad were recognized for their work both on and off the court with placement on the academic all-district team.

Earning academic recognition were seniors Kaylin New and Summer Pederson, junior November Meredith, sophomore Dariann Hawley, and freshmen Johnnie Hise, Hannah Rogers, Jaylynn Roberts, and Reshaley Shafer.

“My girls accomplished so many things this season, including making it to the playoffs,” said coach Dakota Fowler. “I am very blessed to have been given the opportunity to coach them, and I couldn’t be more proud of them!”

Newcastle won the district and also claimed the  rest of the superlative awards including MVP Kelsey McClure, Offensive MVP Hannah Manos, Defensive MVP Nicole Martinez, and Outstanding Setter Arryn Eli.

Newcastle’s coach Paige Hauger was given the nod for Coach of the Year.
