The Lady Bulldogs split games last week, defeating Ranger last Tuesday but coming up short against Strawn on Saturday.

The varsity team took Ranger in three sets 25-22, 25-12, 25-16 on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

“In the second set, Jaylynn Roberts was on fire and led the scoring with 16 points in a row,” said coach Jo Hise. Moran took the lead and held on for the win, according to the coach.

“We got up and stayed up,” said Hise. “The momentum was on our side, and we ran with it.”

Roberts was also the top scorer in the third set with 10 points.

The varsity girls did not fare as well against the visiting Strawn Lady Hounds.

“We went after every ball and kept them alive,” said Hise. “We played hard and volleyed very well, but we just couldn’t finish the point.”

Moran lost to Strawn 10-25, 21-25, 13-25.

Junior High VB

The junior high Lady Bulldogs lost in Ranger 11-25, 25-22, 13-15.

“The girls are showing so much improvement and played hard,” said Hise.

The coach commended Paige Crow for scoring 13 points in the second set.

Upcoming Schedule

Both of Moran’s volleyball teams hosted Newcastle on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Results of the Newcastle games were not available at press time and will be reported next week.

Moran will travel to Hawley on Saturday, Oct. 19 for volleyball games. The Lady Bulldogs will play the Lady Bearcats at 11:00 a.m, while the middle school girls will play in the Hawley tournament.

Both teams are scheduled for home games with Albany on Tuesday, Oct. 22, starting at 4:00 p.m.
