Lady Bulldogs to play in Benjamin tourney today

The Moran Lady Bulldogs volleyball team hit the court Saturday, Aug. 6 for a scrimmage at Munday.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the season Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Rotan and will wrap up the first week of matches Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Benjamin tournament.

Details on Tuesday’s match will be reported next week.

“Things went fairly well Saturday,” Lady Bulldogs coach Jo Hise said. “We had seven girls show up for the scrimmage. When you have four seniors and three freshmen playing, it’s going to take a little bit to get that jelled when they haven’t played together.”

Hise said another player joined the program this week with the start of school, giving the Lady Bulldogs eight on the roster.

After playing three matches at the Benjamin tourney, Moran will compete in the Abilene TLCA tournament at the end of the month.

Hise said the athletes continue to train for cross country as well as volleyball. Moran will run in the Rotan meet on Wednesday, Sept. 28, in preparation for the District 13-1A meet in October. Hise said the date and location for the district meet are to be determined.
