The Moran Lady Bulldogs suffered a pair of three-set losses last week as the schedule finally reached district play.

The Lady Bulldogs played their second district match Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Rising Star. Results will be reported next week.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, Moran visited Trent for a nondistrict match.

The Lady Bulldogs then lost to Abilene TLC 11-25, 10-25, 25-27 at home on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

“We came together in that last set and played ball like we know how to play ball,” coach Jo Hise said.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, Moran lost 3-25, 13-25, 10-25 at Strawn in the District 14-1A opener.

“We had a very rough start,” Hise said. “Strawn is always strong.”

While Moran is assured of a playoff berth, Hise said the goal is to build momentum over the final four regular-season matches.

Moran had 11 athletes competing in the District 13-1A meet Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Eula.

The top three teams and top 10 individuals qualify for the Region II-1A meet at San Angelo. The varsity girls division had four teams entered, including Moran.

The Lady Bulldogs lineup was made up of seniors Alyssa Allred. Alayna Baker, Emily Murk, and Alli Scott, junior Terra Thompson, and freshmen Jayla Bussell and Kacenda Thompkins.

Danny O’Keefe and Chase Murk ran in the varsity boys race.

Maekayla Kersey and Sarah Mendoza competed in the junior high girls division.

“All of them have been making improvements on their times,” Hise said. “I’m very pleased with that.”
