Moran’s varsity and junior high volleyball teams both played last week, with the middle school girls falling to Abilene Christian in two sets, while the Lady Bulldogs and Woodson battled back and forth for five sets before the Cowgirls tied down the win.

Varsity Match

The Lady Bulldogs hosted Woodson on Saturday, Oct. 5, losing in five sets 15-25, 25-17, 25-10, 14-25, 12-15.

“In the first set, Johnnie Hise led our scoring with seven points,” said coach Jo Hise. “Baylee Orsak and Johnnie each scored six points in the second set, and we had a great service game.”

In the third game Johnnie Hise again led the scoring with 11 points.

Also earning points for Moran were Jaylynn Roberts and Dariann Hawley, both with five.

“We had many good passes and sets,” said the coach. “We did many great things but just came up short at the wrong time.”

Junior High

On Tuesday, Oct. 1 the Moran junior high volleyball team hosted Abilene Christian School for two matches, and although Moran lost both of them, coach Jo Hise said it was good experience for her team.

“We learned a lot by getting more playing time,” she said.

Scores for the first match were 18-25, 14-25, and the second match ended with a score of 11-25, 10-25.

Schedule

Both teams played in Ranger on Tuesday, starting the second round of district games. Results were not available at press time and will be reported next week.

The varsity girls will host Strawn on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10:00 a.m.

Newcastle will bring two teams to play on Tuesday, Oct. 15, with games starting at 5:00 p.m.
