Lady Bulldogs to host Rising Star

The Moran Lady Bulldogs dropped a pair of District 6-2A volleyball matches last week.

On Oct. 5. Moran lost 11-25, 7-25, 6-25 at home against Newcastle.

“It was just an off night,” coach Jo Hise said.

On Saturday, the Lady  Bulldogs lost 7-25, 5-25, 16-25 at Albany.

Moran scored the first point of the day before the 10th ranked Lady Lions roared back to  dominate the first two sets.

In the third set, the Lady Bulldogs threatened to extend the match. Moran led as late as 13-13 and were tied at 16-16 when a replay was ordered on the 33rd point after the Lady Bulldogs looked to have regained the lead.

Alli Scott was the leading server for Moran in the third set. Hannah Rogers broke Albany’s 20-point run to start the second set with two service points.

“I was very pleased with how we rallied back in the third set,” Hise said. “We played our ballgame.”

Moran was scheduled to host Hawley on Tuesday. Results will be reported next week.

Tuesday’s match started a stretch of four of five home matches for Moran to close out the regular season. The Lady Bulldogs host Rising Star on Saturday, visit Strawn on Tuesday,Oct. 19, then host Ranger and Woodson in their final two matches.

The junior high team cancelled a match Tuesday against Hawley because of a lack of players.

Remaining matches for the team are Oct. 19 at Strawn and Oct. 26 at home against Woodson.
